The story of Tomás
Tomás is the Irish form of Thomas. The name goes back to the Aramaic word for twin and reached Irish through Greek. Spanish and Portuguese share the same spelling.
Well-known Irish bearers include Tomás Ó Criomhthain, the Blasket Islander who wrote An tOileánach, and Tomás Mac Curtain, the Lord Mayor of Cork killed in 1920.
